Wordless Money - Monday

...I know not a little what it feels like to... have everything taken from you. Home. Things, all things, even... Well, even. I would hug each and every and all those people there from the Valais, Blatten, who have had their lives, time, stolen by a mountainside. Their own mountainside. At least... theirs is more a fatalistic affair than a treacherous one. A longer time, a larger system, nature or existence in all its wonderful and horror-ful inevitability tumbled in with its roar. In Gaza... well. In Gaza. The sort of trauma that passes through time, into your ears, into your daughter's eyes, into your great grandson's teeth, into his granddaughters lungs. Into your genes. And on. 

But not infinately even if indefinately. You do recuperate, if lucky enough. Or unlucky enough, yuk-yuk. And they will as well - with help. The glacier, Birch, (a bit of an irony for me, the name,) had no motivated intent to take everything away, no agency or sadism - those things, for social animals anyway, require story - something not many species create. No traitory, not really. Which is the worst of sins and why Dante placed traitors in the lowest, coldest circle of hell. It's harder to re-write a story than begin a new one. Traitory leaves victims, often, with neither.

Nearly all of us in the west are not a little like the people in Blatten a few months ago, as in the circumstance, only our mountain has intent. Over a year ago I mentioned in a post: the same people who have been murdering children in Palestine, depopulating the Ukraine, impoverishing the majority of people in the West - have no end to what they'll do. If you dont stop being so limited by fear, chose to stop being a coward - eventually they will likely take from you as well. More than you imagine. Even if you consider yourself to be an elite, well educated, multi-lingual, yadda-yadda.. you... are not one of them. Or even close. The people of Blatten found, immediately, belonging from others downstream and across their nation. No... bickering. No blame or hierarchy. No presumption-ess: Christians, Suisses, Valaisannes, we are. Maybe some older, self-assuring fundamentally afraid people will stop so easily being manipulated, breath clear, feel things, let go of a kind of presumption 'we-better-than'. Maybe. If not... we'll have to wait for the next generations, hopefully not too traumatized, to create again much more beautiful places.

The week, or I should say after these first 9 and half weeks, the fable-fund is up 12.62% vs 7.46% for the S & P. Beta still absurdly low, like a very easy staircase the graph would appear. Today, seeing as I want to finish up long holdings - the limit for me here is 23 but only 10 individual companies. 2 slots I leave open for options, another of which was bought and sold this week. Anything more would likely become too much information to keep track of - I bought a tiny bit of the leading Hungarian oil and gas company I had been waiting to buy, MOL group, ticker MGYOY. The Polish election results sort of precipitated taking a tiny bit - if it falls off a good bit I'll buy more. Direct, very long term, solid with upside.

 

And after selling, bought back gold and added a miner etf, GDX, mostly senior mining stocks. (The noted anology of gold as a whip with the metal itself acting as handle. The handle moves first, then the seniors - which move more and finally the juniors if the whip is fully cracked moving the most. Note: management in these companies is notoriously awful. I dont know how correct that is, not following them when I did this for a living. Gold back then... I didn't really consider.) Other positions I pretty much touched on in earlier posts.
